It's on Hallmark every weekday but I don't get what the appeal of it is, this OR Little House on the Prairie.

Re: The Waltons
well... it was coming out of the 70s that were full of free love, protests, political uncertainty, a terrible economy and even the iran hostage situation. So the world wanted a "family" show. Both of these provided that the world could be/used to be a better place.
I remember when I was a kid that, just like the show, we would say "Good night Mom, good night Rhonda, good night alan, good night gail." and after we were all done, We would all say "Good night Johnboy!" lol

Re: The Waltons
I don't get the appeal of 99% of what's aired today. lol I DO get the appeal of The Walton's in an era where there's so much trash. While it's hardly stimulating on a weekly basis, it was watchable enough. And every now and then, it even had plenty of challenging episodes. For it's time, I think it served it's purpose well.

Re: The Waltons
yeah... tv today sux--- i hate reality shows.
people forget that shows like three's company and charlie's angels were seen as being too sexy, and there was a counter to it with family shows. Wish someone would come up with a counter to reality tv!

Re: The Waltons
For the overwhelming most part, I do too. I DO think that that their era might be waning. While they are cheaper, I think people might be growing tired of them.wants2laugh wrote:people forget that shows like three's company and charlie's angels were seen as being too sexy, and there was a counter to it with family shows. Re: The Waltons
The girl scout research center (or something like that) just published an article in AARP that talks about how reality tv has become a detriment to this generation by allowing tween/teenaged girls to believe that they should put up and accept drama in their lives. Supposedly these teens are more likely to be in abusive relationships later in life, and think that if you cause trouble, you will get what you want. Sounds like a great idea to teach girls huh?

I've been catching some of the episodes on Hallmark recently and it isn't bad. I never watched it before.
