It's one thing to go after people, but to target helpless animals and kill them, that's a whole other kind of sick fucker right there. I don't know that I agree that this guy is building up to do something similar to a person, I know that's how serial killers get their start, torturing and killing animals first and working their way up to people, but I think this guy's just killing cats for the hell of it and obviously to make the owners suffer. For people living in New York I can definitely see the urge for having indoor cats as opposed to outdoor ones.

We have that going on here in the Portland area, too. In this state we also have a LOT of animal starvation abuse. It can be a rural place with several animals, or some household anywhere with a bunch of dogs that are neglected or left to die. I assume a lot of it is because the owners fall on hard times. But, good Lord, seek HELP first!
Horses can be tricky to relocate. We know someone who owns a horse rescue camp and she struggles financially.

serial killers do escalate.. and im sure that this sick twisted freak will gain confidence from his cat kills, and eventually... just like junkie, the high he is getting wont be enough. He will need to progress.

The scary thing is that there are dozens of serial killers loose in the US at any given moment. It is sad to think of the cats.. but how many women are being tortured right now as we type?

Animal abuse is sick and twisted... as bluesmama said, it can be widespread. While working with the dalmatian rescue, I saw soooo many dals that were neglected, beaten and starved just because the owners thought the puppies were "cute" after watching the movie. SMH ppl are sick

Bluesmama I also know someone in Oregon who rescues abused horses. Many people in this state neglect their animals out of ignorance besides cruelty. It's just so sad.

Regarding the cats, for some reason, people seem to like to target them. My poor kitty is a rescue. She was a mess when I adopted her from a shelter years ago. I always choose the one with the most problems because I always figure they are the ones who need the most help.

Today she is one old content fat cat pretty pleased with herself. Just as a cat should be.
