Either because it's a long/unconventional name, or because it is pronounced differently than it's spelled; is your name (first or last) ever mispronounced?

My name is very Germanic and five letters long but ppl often want to make it more French adding a couple of letters.

Boyette is not my last name.

First name's common enough. Last name is often Americanized, even by me. Razz So I wouldn't say "mispronounced" as much as not pronounced in the actual Italian way. lol

It's more misspelled than anything. My family has been spelling it wrong since my birth. Which I don't get because it's really not that hard of a name. It's like misspelling Suzanne or Alice--you gotta really WANT to fuck it up if you've seen it more than once and STILL spell it wrong.

Your family misspells your name? Are we talking distant cousins twice removed or the ones you sat at the same dinner table with?

Oh yes! My last name is always mispronounced and misspelled. "McHugh" gets spelled all sort of different ways like McCue, McKew, McGue. . . pronouncing, it's supposed to be "Mc" sounding like "Mick", and "Hugh" like "hue".

It always gets pronounced stupidly like some of these classics I've heard (usually from telemarketers. . . )

    Mack Goff
    Ma Guff
    Mick Goo
    Mick Hug
    Mack Ho

    etc. . . phonics, people!!!

SMH. I know what you mean. One of the partners where I work retired sometime ago but we still get sales calls for him. It's sad how many ways people pronounce "O'Connor". And it's not like they're from a call center in New Delhi.

My aunts send gifts every year and EVERY YEAR my name is misspelled!

What's worse is now that we're all connected on Facebook, they may comment on a pic and STILL spell my name wrong! ::facepalm::
