Have you ever signed a petition manually or electronic?
What was it for, did it make a difference?

I signed a petition online about that crazy freakin westboro church group who hates "Fags" and soldier "murderers". The petition was to declare them a hate group.

with the way our govt runs now.. there is no way it will matter.. but i felt better doing it. They tried that shit here at a funeral and the bikers chased them right out of the state.

Probably. Don't remember for what or if it did any good.

Many times over the years, usually for some civil rights cause, even to make marijuana legal. IDK how effective they are.

I used to write letters to my elected parasites all the time, but indications are that some of their staff read the letters and often respond incorrectly so it's a waste.

I've signed them. The most recent one is the Westboro White House one W2L posted about.

I don't sign online petitions of any kind. They are ineffective because you can't sign them.
I've signed a few petitions from "those people" with their clipboards. But I have to admit that I'm seldom in the right mood to be bothered.

The WH petitions used to require an answer with 25000 signatures but they changed it to 100000 (I think) after the Death Star petition. I think they can be generally ineffective but I really would like to see those Westboro assholes declared a hate group because they ARE one.

I think most petitions are just to make people feel important. Might sign something if I'm in the mood, but it's not often.

Well, though online petitions are typically invalid, they can still encourage readers to think.

And thinking is a good thing. They can certainly get people talking. Any step toward change for the better is good with me.

Long time ago I signed a petition to change some kind of city ordinance. I really only signed it because the petitioners were hanging outside as I was coming out of a market collecting signatures. They talked so fast about what it was for that I just signed it to get them out of my hair.

Yep, a few. I can't remember what they were though.
