What is your work out routine?
I am currently in a work out rut. I love going to the Y, but my work schedule changed and now I am looking for some inspiration, so I hit the gym more than three times a week. If you go to a gym or work out at home, what do you like to do?

I have been lazy, have not hit the gym in a few months. I need to get motivated and start going again.

- 20 minutes on the cardio bike
- About 60-90 minutes of weight lifting.
- 30 minutes on the cardio bike
- 20 minute intermission (break)
- 20 minutes on the cardio bike
Go home.

Re: What is your work out routine?
Marc, you are so dedicated! I wish I could do that much on weights. I max out at a half hour. I was doing a Body Fit class, but could not stand it.
Tony, I know what you mean...it is hard to keep that "want to" when life gets busy. Lucky for me, I have a work out buddy and we are not friends, we just work out together, so it is good to have that other person to be accountable to.

Actually much of the time weight lifting comes from waiting for equipment to become free. Plus I do my lifting in two halves....after the first half, I take like a 5-10 minute break. If all that was eliminated, it would probably be under an hour. My focus is more on cardio than lifting. I like to be skinny. Weights are just for toning.

So, Marc, I have to ask why you don't do an elliptical vs. the bike all the time? You are going to burn more calories on the elliptical, and you are obviously in good shape, so it seems like you should do some elliptical in with that. I am not informing...just asking why not!

I've been pondering it. I had a home treadmill a few years ago, but that was like hell for me. I ***really*** had to psych myself up to do it. What I like about the bike is that you can sit down. LOL
Plus I'm asthmatic, so if I don't pace myself on these machine just right, I'll go to wheezing and not having any breath. From what I've experienced, standing up on these things tends to bother me in that regard.

Re: What is your work out routine?
Ok, that makes sense. The trainers at the Y in my area are always negative about anyone using the bikes. And I don't really worry about calorie burn as much as I do toning. And for that reason, I like to hit the stationary bike for about 30. And if I am feeling good I like to hit a 90 min. spin class. But that is boring as heck as I have to listen to the trainer's choice of music.

I sometimes go to the aerobics classes. That's pretty much it.

Re: What is your work out routine?
They don't even have traditional aerobics around here anymore. It's all about Zumba now. And that is pretty fun, I guess.

I have a lifetime membership at Fitness USA. Haven't been in about 5 years. I really only went for the water aerobics classes.

Re: What is your work out routine?
I currently don't have one. I had a membership at Bally's two years ago, but it expired and I didn't bother to renew. Had a membership at Fitness USA too, but I didn't care for the alternate m/f days.
I just got a renewal notice in the mail for Bally's, I think this fall I'm going to go start going again.

Re: What is your work out routine?
I have a Y membership. I love the Y. I live by the newest and nicest Y in my city and we just got all new equipment which was such a nice surprise. Most all the machines have their own TV, so it makes working out fun with being able to watch whatever I want and take a break from tunes once in a while.
Plus, with my son and I going together a lot, I love the family oriented nature of it, and how great the basketball courts are.

My membership at Bally's (had one at Lifetime, but that became too expensive to keep.) I haven't been in 3 weeks, gonna go back tomorrow.

I do alot of cardio and upper body (like chest and abs). Don't really pay much attention to my arms, shoulders and back.

So what's the best/worst fitness clubs you've been to? Equipment, staff, rates, pool area, classes, is the cleanest/dirtiest, etc., etc.

Re: What is your work out routine?
I think that in this area the Y is the best. But if I was not into having my son join me, cost wise, I would do the 24 hour fitness gym. I would pay much less per month, with better hours. But I still LOVE the Y.
