Points...what are they?

The question has been asked and answered about a "rep" but what are "points"? Sorry if this was covered before. Is there an FAQ section I don't see? Mille grazie.

Points are how you gain status here as a member. For instance, you may start out as Significant, then gain more points and become Necessary, then gain more points and become a Power Member. The more you post the more points you earn and your status will increase. You will see this on your profile pic or when you are posting.
