    Scream 4 Empty Scream 4

Post by JWF Fri Apr 15, 2011 5:58 pm

I think it's time to shut-down this franchise. If your a fan of the original (some 15 years ago) and 2 sequels you may not see much difference in Scream 4, except too many unnecessary (some new) characters. And if it's intended to be of the "Horror Comedy Genre" it's not funny or scary, or both. One of the big flaws it lacks balance and freshness.

Seems like the same old plot. Sidney (Neve Campell) returns home with her new survival book, and just happens to reconnects with Sheriff Dewey (David Arquitte) and Gale (Courtney Cox). Hey, they are now married. Along with a bunch of high school kids (Emma Roberts, etc), who begin to diminish. All of these characters brings out you know who: GHOSTFACE.

There is little brainy-ness or meda-ness about Scream 4.

That it has Hayden Panettiere in it makes it seem sorta goofy.

I saw it yesterday Hayden cut off all her beautiful blonde locks for this movie. The first 15 minutes captured my interest then the next half hour I literally was falling asleep until the last 45 minutes when it picked up again. Very predictable, it does have a twist to it but still predictable. Wait for cable for this one.

I haven't seen any of the Scream movies - ever.

Can I still have a complete and fulfilled life?

I've said before they even made this one that it was time to kill it off, how long is this going to go on? Is Sydney going to be old and gray and still having Ghostface nuts coming after her?

The previews don't look like nothing either. I was never that big a fan of any of the "Scream" movies. It's something to watch on cable.

    'SCREAM 4' SILENCED

"Rio," which cost about $90 million to make, revolves around Blu, a rare blue macaw (voiced by Jesse Eisenberg of "The Social Network"), who returns home to Brazil after a coddled existence as a smuggled pet in the United States. It was directed by Carlos Saldanha, the Rio de Janeiro native behind Fox's "Ice Age" trilogy. Fox is a unit of News Corp.

Opening at No. 2 in North America with considerably less success was "Scream 4," the first installment in the horror franchise in 11 years.

The Dimension Films release sold about $19.3 million worth of tickets across the United States and Canada. Industry insiders had expected the bloody reunion of David Arquette, Courteney Cox and Neve Campbell to open in the mid-$20 million range. Dimension is a unit of the closely held Weinstein Co.

The best opening in the series was the $34.7 million start for "Scream 3" in 2000, but it quickly stalled and finished up with $89 million -- the worst in the series. The 1996 original was the most successful with sales of $103 million.
