Am I the only one who has no problem with kids carrying cellphones at school, just in case their parents need to contact them?

OMG!! I went to school for 12 years and never had a cell phone. Wow!

How could my parents ever contact me?

How could I ever survive? Shocked

Oh Wait. I did survive. Lucky me.

Well, if they are at school....then it should be no prob. getting in contact with them. However, in this day and age....yeah....I don't see a problem with parents wanting to be able to contact their child any time they're away from them. Times have changed.

I don't have a problem with it in theory, but the issue is that kids will use it for purposes that are 95% unrelated to having communication with their parents. My daughter has a cell that she takes to school, but she knows to not play on it because if she does and it winds up being confiscated, then that's it. She won't get another one.

I think it will always be an adjustment for me. I share Shale's opinion. And, remembering how my daughter could get, I know she would ignore the phone when she saw it was me. Then I'd get fed up and end up taking it away from her. But they can certainly be useful.
