Ours is broken as of today, and I have to admit that my spoiled self is really feeling sorry for herself! It is so hot in here right now, and it is supposed to be much hotter tomorrow.

When I was a kid, I don't think we had even a window air conditioning unit. So, everyone survived nonetheless! But I know what you mean, it is rather easy to get addicted to the comfort of it.
I am glad that you admitted your addiction, so I don't feel so bad for feeling so screwed over by this air conditioning unit!

That's all we still have. lol (Window AC)
I have no problem admitting it. It's probably less that I am an AC addict, and more that I am extremely heat intolerant. lol I HATE the heat. (Although oddly enough, I like hot water. lol) That's not to say I like it subzero but I could be very happy going outside without a jacket into the upper 40's. I could open the windows and let the cold air in. lol I don't like the dead of winter but I just cannot stand the summer heat. Even on cool nights, I want the AC on cause the air doesn't really come in for me. So yeah, I need my AC on in the heat. I get pretty grumpy without it. lol I am addicted to a lot of other stuff but the AC, darn, I HATE the heat so I would NOT want to be without one in the hot weather.

Mine broke one day last week and I wondered how the Tequesta lived down here for a thousand years without AC. Actually I remember when we lived without AC, just fans and open windows in the summer in Mississippi.
Oh, I survived the night sleeping under a fan. Could get used to it again, but it was never pleasant.

Growing up, we had one window unit in the living room... my mother would put blankets up to trap the cold in the one room. In the winter, only the living room would heat because there was also only one heater unit that was in the living room. It seems like i spent my whole childhood in the living room.
Now i insist on having central air wherever i live, and i dont care what the bill is... i need air!

Extraordinarily. My bedroom has a sunroom attached to it, so it retains heat. When it's 60 degrees outside, it's 75 inside.

Well, black people can typically take the heat. I know what it's like not to have A/C. I can get by without it.....but I really, really, really, really, really, SO would not want to.

When the compressor went a few weeks ago we were without for a few days. It gets pretty hot when you're on the second floor. I could get by on most days but it would be tough on those days when it gets above 90. Couldn't do it if we didn't at least have fans.

only a/c i have is in my car.... i deal with no a/c all the time in my room. so I guess i'm not that dependent on it.
A fan and ice water is what i use to keep me cool.

Today its 81 degrees so far I have the doors and windows open and a nice breeze is coming in which I like. I prefer not to use A/C but when it gets really hot and humid I have to put it on.
