    Hollywood has seen its fair share of odd couplings, but this one is so out there even the newlyweds know it's a little weird.

    Doug Hutchison, a character actor best known for roles in The Green Mile, Lost and The X-Files, married aspiring pop star Courtney Alexis Stodden on May 20 in Las Vegas.

    He is 51. She is 16.

    Is there something fishy about it? In an exclusive statement to E! News, the couple insists there's not.

    With Stodden, a former beauty pageant queen (she was in the running for Miss Teen Washington USA last year), trying to position herself as a potential pop star, you might think there's more to the story than middle-age actor marrying pretty teenager (and that's a lot of story, itself). However, the newlyweds tell us they're just mad about each other.

    "We're aware that our vast age difference is extremely controversial," the couple said through their spokeswoman.

    "But we're very much in love and want to get the message out there that true love can be ageless."

    Yuck. She is a teen seeking fame and he is an opportunist also seeking his time in the spotlight back. This couple, along with her parents are terrible.

    They look happy in the pic and she doesn't look that young and he doesn't look that old. Not like he's Hugh Hefner marrying a 20-something.

    There's only a 35 year spread in their age. I've made it with ppl 30 & 40 years younger than me. It's not all about the number of years you amass but where your head is at.     Shale, have to disagree. You didn't watch the video (don't blame you...it's long). But had you seen it, the whole thing just looks like yuck.

    Not like he's Hugh Hefner marrying a 20-something.

    OK, I just went and watched the video and I agree with the YUCK.

    Yuck that there are so many ppl with a small village mentality to get so seriously involved where THEY HAVE NO FUCKING BUSINESS BEING INVOLVED.

    Maybe because I have been involved in two relationships that went against the majority view of mainstream society. Maybe it is because I regularly fucked a woman who was older than my mother or because I fucked a guy the same age as my grandson.

    IDK why but I just can't fault these two for living their life by their own values.

    Well, clearly you mean that I am one of those wag tongue people that thinks she has a right to judge. Well, in this case, these two are putting it out there for people to judge. I didn't coax them into that interview or the reality show they are shopping. And yes, I judge it. Just my opinion...an I will wag my tongue till the cows come home about this because they put this out there. And it seems all fame seeking.

    Maybe it is because I regularly fucked a woman who was older than my mother or because I fucked a guy the same age as my grandson.

    I am not someone who discriminates on age and who should "fuck" who. But in that video, I detected nothing to do with finding true love, only the two of them seeking fame. (just my opinion) I don't agree with people who have sent her parents death threats. But I do have to ask myself why her parents wouldn't say to the couple that if it is true love, why not wait until she is 18? Well, that is because if she was 18 at the time, they couldn't have done all these "look at us" interviews, and the shock value would have been much less.

    First thing I thought of one I read about this when the story broke on the internet was Jerry Lee Lewis and his cousin. If it's legal? Shrugs (Oh well…) The fact that she looks older lessens the creep factor but still. I don't care how narrow minded it makes me. It's creepy for adult men to have that kind of relationship with a 16 year old. The death threats are going too far though.

    BTW though. If she were 15 (looking like that) and some man had sex with her after hooking up at a party or something without knowing her age, I would feel bad for him if he was charged with statutory rape. The law's the law though I guess.

    Agreed. No 51 year old man has any business being involved with a 16 year old (even if she does look 25) girl. Her parents were out of line for even allowing this relationship to happen in the first place, let alone signing off on their underage daughter marrying the dodgy old creep.

    Apparently, it is legal as mentioned in the video. Age of consent and marriage criteria are state functions, there is no consistency on a national level.

    My dad was in deep shit when he sobered up and found a 14-year-old runaway traveling across state lines with him in 1944. When he got to hometown in MS, had a friend who was a JP marry them, then called my grandmother in St. Louis, who fortunately didn't object.

    Now, had my grandmother been a responsible parent and done the "right thing", I likely would have grown up in a single family home, with my biological father in jail, costing the state (Missouri or Mississippi) lots of money and myself and mom in poverty.

    Just one reason I don't believe in "the law is the law" because there are fucked up laws that do more harm than their intended good.

    i think 16 is too young to be married to anyone. I was married at 21 and THAT was too young. Personally, i think people need time to develop who they are, what they want, and do things they want before being involved in relationships that require compromise. If you want to go to aruba and your 18, you shouldnt have to deal with the "we're not going, we could spend the money on something else, i dont want to go" etc. Be free, be 18 and enjoy life!

    I just don't understand the girls parents, allowing their 16 year old daughter to do this. When I was 16, I dated a 20 year old guy and when my mom found out she were ready to lock me in the house and threatened to call the police and press charges against him if I didn't end things ASAP. My dad was never told because he would have paid him a visit. And we were only 3.5 years apart.

    I have to wonder if she is a hassle to deal with, and so they basically dumped her on this guys lap to be rid of her.

    There are better ways for young girls to work out their absent or unresponsive "daddy" issues besides marrying someone old enough to be him. Men who do that sort of thing are lecherous creeps, who steal the youth of these young women to maintain the self deluding notion that they are still virile and relevant. Society doesn't need middle aged men pretending to still be twenty, with the pony tail and earring and the young girlfriend that strangers think is his daughter until the ugly truth becomes clear. And when people pretend to not pass judgement on it in public, they are just being polite. Privately, people snicker and think the guy's a pervert taking advantage of a damaged young girl. It's sad and disgusting.
