By show of hands, who agrees that whoever decides to put up back-to-school sale displays in stores right after the 4th of July (especially when nobody's even going back till near September) should be drug out into the street and shot?

That's the best time to buy, when it's on sale. Better than waiting until late August.

I especially like when in July they start putting out the winter clothing and start liquidating the summer stuff. WTF??

But it's only a reminder of the upcoming doom of returning back to schoool. Yet another advantage I found with homeschooling because all the supplies came together, textbooks, pencils, compass, rulers, etc.

Thank you. There is nothing wrong with getting a jump start on your shopping to get the best deals. YOU don't have to shop for school supplies after the 4th if YOU don't want to. drug out on the street and shot........

It's a good way to beat that back to school mad rush in the stores. Sometimes you can get some really good deals too.

Exactly. Exactly when are they supposed to start? Two weeks before school starts so it can be pandemonium and everything sold out?

It's a good way to beat the rush. What I wonder more about if Christmas displays coming out in July. Costco starts bringing out their Christmas stuff in July and so do some other places.

Retailers are just rushing our lives by to the point where they should just leave everything out, for all seasons, year 'round. I needed a couple of extra pool floats last week, so I went to Kmart, Namco and Ocean State Job lot, and all were either sold out or being put away to make way for the fall lawn stuff--it's July! Midsummer! People still need pool floats! I had to order them off of Amazon.
I don't want to have to shop for next Christmas, on December 26th, because if I don't, all the stores are going to take the stuff away and put out all the Valentine's Day crap, for the following holidays a year from the ones that haven't even happened yet!

It IS very ridiculous, day after Halloween, boom, Christmas stuff out, day after Christmas, boom, Valentine's Day, day after Valentine's day, boom, Easter, and then summer until August or September when they get the Halloween stuff out, and the beat goes on. What about giving people a breather in between the holidays that usually have 1-2 months in between them?

I think it should be a law that retailers can't put out their holiday stuff until the actual month of the holiday, or a couple of weeks prior to if the holiday falls at the beginning of the month.
I always feel like everything is so rushed and "hurry--get it now before we take it away or someone else buys it!" That's part of the reason why I stopped observing everything except Christmas and birthdays--less stress about shopping for all these gifts and crap we're "supposed to" buy.

That's the downside to things out early. People who need in-season things, mid-season, are normally out of luck.
