I lived on a creek, and there was a legend about a "captain" who used children as slaves. He would sail the creek looking for more children, when one night the kids rebelled and overthrew the captain, the ship sunk and all died.

Every Halloween night, i would get the local kids together, retell the story "the captain of the creek" and warn that the ghostly ship still sailed in search of bad kids who didnt listen to their parents.

I live in the neighborhood where the Salem Witch Trials took place. Not in Salem itself, but in what used to be Salem.

Not a legend, but we've got a cold case of a young couple that was murdered about 30 years ago that a lot of people still remember and it's still unsolved though there are some good ideas as to the who, but why is another ballpark altogether.

Yep, we have a scary local "legendary" who is frighteningly for real ~ Tanya Harding.

Not really a legend because it did happen. I don't live too far from where a shark attacked people 16 miles inland in 1916.

I went to Salem years ago and saw the house the Judge who condemned the supposed witches lived in.

Well here on Long Island we have the famous Amityville house, you all probably saw the movie so you know the legend.

It's kinda funny, because I've never been to any of the Witch Trials sights. I've driven by them a million times, but I've never been inside any of them.
