A quintessential movie from that year, a classic, and it seems unfortunately, and incomplete classic. It would seem when the film originally premiered it was about 3 hours long but all extra footage has since been lost, supposedly at the hands of Dennis Hopper (RIP) who edited it out, and so today we only know of the hour and a half long version that currently exists. But who's seen this movie and what were your thoughts about it?

Re: Easy Rider (1969)
Y'know, I should like this, since I was a child of the 60's. But I couldn't get into it then, and when I rented it a couple of years ago, I fell asleep half-way through it (bored).
Just find the movie boring. Characters were boring, as was all the toking, so even the music couldn't save it for me.

Anybody else?
Of course I think we can all agree, the opening was what made it good in the first place, if it wasn't for that and the soundtrack with Steppenwolf, it wouldn't have been memorable, it wouldn't be as likeable probably, that was what really made the movie I think.

Saw it loooong ago. Not a favorite as I recall. Shale kind of almost lived part of it.

Actually I did tour the Eastern U.S. on a motorcycle in '73, but didn't meet any homicidal troglodyte rednecks (obviously).Alan Smithee wrote:... Shale kind of almost lived part of it.
Just visited old friends, smoked a little dope, helped one transport some windowpane around - pretty uneventful trip.
