Like radiation I believe in moderation of small doses it's tolerable, but exactly what exactly do people see in it, or rather hear?

I think the appeal is more in the storytelling; with the singing being like a live action soundtrack.

I think the appeal is that it's artsy, and that I guess it takes a lot of talent to go that high. But in terms of being pleasurable to listen to, I don't get it. But I do admit that Marc Martel is one singer who makes opera tolerable.

I think so too. I've bits and pieces of some pretty animated opera that I could actually get into. I guess it really depends on the opera.

I'm not an opera fan, but I think there are a number of different kids of opera's that range from typical concert style to theatrical with the music operating as a story narrative.
