Got a new job! Empty Got a new job!

Post by Jaws Fri Jun 11, 2010 10:34 pm

Well, it's still pending since I don't know the results of my background check and drug test yet. Not worried at all since I don't have a record and I've never ever ever done drugs.

It's at (of all places) Wal-Mart. I'll be working the night shift and stocking (which I've done for another company before and loved it). I'm looking forward to it but it's going to be a little rough seeing as I already have a job working at a call center. Thankfully my hours were majorly cut so it shouldn't be too bad now.

    Wish me luck!

Since you don't do drugs and know that you're gonna pass your drug test, you should have it in the bag. When it comes to stock jobs, passing the drug test is really the most important thing when it comes to new hires. Good luck Jaws!!!

Good luck Jaws. What UMo said is actually true, when it comes to stock positions, employers are most concerned about not hiring someone who is gonna come in high. If you pass your drug test, you're basically hired.

I used to work a stock job. The best shift to have is at night.

Rock that shit out. I've worked two jobs before and I'm about to starting doing it again. When that money starts to flow in, you'll change your tune. Working two jobs isn't bad if you get a flexible schedule and know how to manage your time. You can work two jobs and still have a social life.

Well, I'm not worried about my social life, seeing as I don't have one. At all. I'm fairly new in town and I'm not exactly an outside person Razz
I'm waiting to see how this job works out. I mean, I expect to like it. No, LOVE it. So I'll probably eventually quit my call center job since I hate it so freakin' much. Heck, I was only scheduled for 13 hours next week and this is one of the busy times of the year... really sad.

If I were you, I wouldn't quit. There is nothing wrong with extra money, esp if you're not the type to go out a lot. Since you're new town, you should just stack as much money as you can. Since your call center gig isn't giving you a lot of hours, it's even more reason to keep it......you're not there a lot and it's not a burden on you. Concentrate on the new gig and just go to the other one when the hours are available.

Yeah, that and I want to make sure that if things don't work out at Wal-Mart, I have something to fall back on. I'll probably stay there for at least a couple of months yet (if I don't get fired cause I suck at my job anyway). Can't wait for the $$$ to start rolling in!

When I was 21, I had a stockjob at supermarket distribution center and loved it. I didn't have to deal with any customers, just worked with a supervisor and 5 other guys.

Good luck on your new job Jaws. I'm considering taking a second job myself because my current POE has been laying people off these past few months. My own hours were recently cut from 40 to about 32.

Cool. Is the pay more or less than your other job?

Less, actually. $7.45 plus $.50 for shift differential, but I'm only getting $8.25 at my other job anyway.

    And thanks Tony!

That's gonna be a pretty nice combo pay.
