'Hollywood insider' says Gaga is desperate to portray the late singer

Lady Gaga is being lined up to play Amy Winehouse in a Hollywood biopic, according to tabloid reports today (August 5).

According to a 'Hollywood insider' in today's Daily Star, Gaga has called the part 'the only role' for her'.

The 'insider' told the paper:
Lady
Gaga worshipped Amy and would love nothing more than to transform
herself into her idol on the big screen. She'd be spot on performing
Amy's songs and has got the right look and bolshy attitude.

They continued:
Gaga's been itching
to make the transition from music into movies and sees this as the
ideal role to launch her film career. Gaga's management team had been
discussing possible film ventures before Amy's untimely death. But
there’s only ever been one role she wants and that’s to play Amy.

Lady Gaga paid tribute to the singer earlier this week, revealing that she was "unable to speak for 48 hours" after hearing of Winehouse's death.

These are the first reports that any biopic is being planned, with no
studio names or producers being named as part of any such project.

She would make a good AW she kind of looks like her a bit too.

But regardless of who plays Amy, the voice will have to be dubbed. There's just no substitute.

Gaga would be all wrong for such a project. Winehouse was too much of a peer of hers, it would look like she was trying to use a biopic as a vanity role. If they do a movie on her…which, IMO, they don't really need to…then they should hire a real actress. Not a singer who wants to break into film.

And i agree. Don't think a movie is necessary. But if they move forward with it, an established actress should play her.

Personally, I never liked either of the singers (I sampled a couple of Winehouse cds recently and thought they were crap) but I can see Gaga as a good candidate to portray her. I do conceive of her getting too "involved" in the role, though. Lady Caca can be really intense.
