If a parent is found guilty of murdering their child, should they be sterilized in addition to any other punishment?

I suppose that there is also a factor here as to whether or not a woman, in particular, is beyond child-bearing years.

No instance in particular for this question. It's just a general question. What do you think? Should child murderers be sterilized?

It's tough to say. On one hand, it is added punishment that others wouldn't get so I'm generally opposed to that idea. But allowed people who'd kill their own children to reproduce to do it again is asking for trouble. But then again, if they are found guilty of murdering their children, they shouldn't be let out TO do it again, so hence the sterilization is not needed.

Yeah that pesky cruel and unusual punishment thingy! Just keep them away from members of the opposite sex for the remainder of their lives. The ensuing hyperbole not withstanding, I oppose government sanctioned mutilation.

If they're found guilty of child murder, they should go to prison for life. Don't allow them any conjugal visits, and they won't have any more children.

This country has an ugly eugenics past. Fortunately they were forced to stop. We don't need that again. Hopefully the females would be in jail too long to conceive again. With the men obviously that would be more difficult. There would need to be a watchful eye on any other children they had. But sterilization is just going too far.

Nah....too extreme. If they're in prison, then they shouldn't have the opportunity to procreate. And if they get released from prison, after murdering a child, while they're still young enough to conceive....then that's just a flaw of the legal system.

While it is a tempting idea, I take it a step further from everyone else, if you murder your child you should get the death penalty.
