Do you think fathers should threaten, or intimidate, their daughters boyfriends?

If you're a male, have you ever dated a female who had a possessive father, who put you on notice?
If you're a female, did your father tend to be defensive about, and distrust, your boyfriends?

To all the fathers here: when your daughter began dating, did you have a defensive reaction to it?

Not really. It's sweet that they care that much....but nah.

We allowed our daughter's BF to spend the night with her, so nah no intimidation from her father. (BF was leery at first, couldn't believe parents would allow that - didn't know the counter culture types we were.)

I think the stereotypical overprotective father is kinda sick actually. Admit that your daughter is a young woman and will be doing all the nasty things that young women do - that you likely did yourself as a teen.

I intend to be the intimidating mother, heh heh.

My Dad had the tendency to pick very poorly regarding my boyfriends. He was strict with the first, but he was the best I had.
