Well I haven't flunked my driving test...yet, the driving exams start at 7 in the morning, we go down there at 7 sharp and there's a delay, they don't start until 9:30, I call at 9:15, there's already a line, and the guy (we were expecting the woman who usually issues the tests) who answers sounds like a real militant bastard, apparently every guy who's ever issued the tests here is one and hard as hell to pass with, so I'm going to have to wait until Tuesday to take my test.

Sorry failed mine too the first time because I got some hardass idiot who apparently hated his job. Second was a breeze. Sure it will be like that for you too.

There seems to be an epidemic of these guys who hate their jobs...considering it's only 3 days a week I wonder why that is. Or if they hate it so much why they TOOK it in the first place.

Re: El Busto!
I failed mine the first time. Took it at my school and my teacher was one of my previous teachers who didn't like me....and was too eager to see my fuck up. I passed the class and got credited (and I needed it too, because I had come up a credit short of being able to transition from Sophomore to Junior....and that class pushed me over) - but failed the road. That fall my mother paid for me to enroll in Sears Driving School, and I was able to pass that one.

Why did you fail? You were knocking down trash cans? LOL

Dude made me nervous and kept pushing annoying ass teaching break on the passenger side. Real stickler for "10 and 2"....lane changing rules, etc, etc. He was old as hell, and that was 16 years old ago, so he's probably dead....but fuck him.

LOL. Me too. Mine was a crew cut state trooper who probably thought it was beneath him. The second test was hiven by an older DMV guy who actually seemed annoyed (at the trooper) when I told him I failed the first time.

Re: El Busto!
Okay, I have a question for everybody. I was going to ask the instructor this when I went today but I thought I'd ask here incase this ever came up.
I hate seeing roadkill animals that have been hit by cars, and birds, although they usually do manage to get out of the way at the last second, I don't want to take a chance on hitting them either should they not move as fast as needed. Turkeys are so different, when you're a block away they'll start running across the street, robins and sparrows wait until they're about face to face with the tire.
My dad got mad at me for stopping for a bunch of birds and honking the horn so they'd fly off, then he got mad at me again when I just stopped for them, and he said I will NOT pass if I do that during the test. But I'd think the teacher would be more put off if I went ahead and hit one of the birds. Anybody got any thoughts on how to handle this situation should it come up?

Re: El Busto!
Don't listen to your dad on this one. Definitely stop and let the animals pass. I would never intentionally run over a dog, cat or any other animal. I think it's cruel and unnecessary and your instructor will think so too.

See that's what I think too, even birds, I HATE when we find dead birds in the road, and that seems to be the days that the street cleaners take the week or month off and they're just left there until they become feet and a stain in the road, I think that's disgusting. We've got a pretty good record so far, never hit any animals, even the dumbest of all squirrels that we had to honk about 10 times before they take the hint and run away.

Re: El Busto!
That sucks that you were all ready to go and then it didn't work out. Funny you say that about the man and woman having different rates of passing. Same thing in the county I took my test in. The two men failed many more than the female. I failed with one of the men the first time.
But when we drove to the test, the defrost in my car stopped working, so we had to turn around and get Dad's car which was a longer vehicle. So, that made my nerves through the roof.

Re: El Busto!
Supernova, you need to use your judgment. If a brude of geese is crossing the road and you're not going to be rear ended, slow down and stop. If a sparrow swoops in front of you, don't drive off the road trying to save it. Experience will help you evaluate the hazard.

Re: El Busto!
I was going to tell you to go to a rural DMV to retake your test(worked for me!), but since you wish to avoid the critters, better go to the one you went to before. BTW: I try to stop for animals, but it's not always a good idea. Sometimes the best thing to do is keep going
