Do you know anyone who has had a midlife crisis? Do you think that they are inevitable for most people, or is it something that is largely prone to those who were already self-centered?

Re: Midlife Crisis
15 years ago or so I didn't have one. Age has yet to freak me out.

Re: Midlife Crisis
I think I'm going to have one. For some reason, I just suspect that I'm going to be that forty-five year old man in a sports car and on the basketball court.

Re: Midlife Crisis
I'm willing to go with the latter. I don't really know anyone personally who has had a midlife crisis.

Re: Midlife Crisis
I think mine was rather low key. At 38, married and in a stable relationship, I started writing my autobiography (also wrote a sexual history).
I had done a lot of exciting stuff already so now it was a bit quieter. I did start modeling and joined a nudist group - but that seemed more a revisit to my youthful ideals. Coulda been a midlife manifestation tho.
Anything I am doing now, like flirting (connecting) with boys young enuf to be my grandson is actually an old-age crisis - I am well beyond the midlife stuff.

Re: Midlife Crisis
I always thought that 'mid-life crisis' thing was more of an exaggerated plot for television than real life. Anyone at any age can go through a period of identity crisis, or being so distressed by the time that's passed them that they act out because of it.

Re: Midlife Crisis
My husband started flaking out when he hit 30, then as time progressed after that, he'd go through periods of being a complete asshole, and times of everything being just fine--sort of like it is at present day (he's 47 now). Only difference is, is that I've learned how to not put up with his bullshit attitude and thinking, whenever he decides to throw a hissy fit about something stupid and blow away all the goodness and calmness that has happened since the prior blow-out.
