. I have a typical New York accent. And I have kind of a high pitched voice so it's kinda funny hearing me get mad. Or so I've been told.

Re: Do you have an accent?
Yeah, you New Yorkers. Personally, I never thought I had an accent but a friend of mine who is from New York once told me that he detected "a little bit of country" when I spoke. When I went there and hung out with him and his boy, his friend was like..."yeah anybody here can tell you not from New York." No but I'm from the damn MIDWEST. You want "country?" Go listen to someone from Mississippi, New Orleans, Texas or Alabama talk. They'll give you bamma-speak for days.

And I've heard some doozers. I should be used to it because I know a lot of people from the South and I lived there for a time but I've had to ask motherfuckers to repeat themselves a few times. "What the hell did you just say?"

Re: Do you have an accent?
I was talking with a lady from Boston the other day, and she said that Oregonians do have accents. When I asked her what we sounded like, she said "You just speak very clearly". What does that mean? Speaking clearly is an accent? Can anybody who grew up somewhere else help me understand this?

I have been told that I sound like I am from the east coast, but I don't (think) I have a stereotypical "Joisey" accent.

Re: Do you have an accent?
All my life I've been told that, or asked if, I have an eastern or NY accent, even by people from there. And when I was in Manhattan a few years ago I noticed that some people assumed I was "one of them".
I think my accent is a European one I picked up from my parents.

Re: Do you have an accent?
I was raised in St. Louis and I don't think I have an accent.
I have had exposure to the Deep South and my relatives used to make fun of me for saying things like 'cow' instead of 'cau.'

Re: Do you have an accent?
Slight southern accent. My BF from the west coast calls me country (with his 90210 sounding self) but oddly enough, my down south GA fam says I sound like a proper chick from WAAAAAY up north. Random people talking on the phone with me can't tell where I'm from unless I'm tired and start slipping.
