I found this as an example in some forum and this is the response of someone being lied to about the other person's weight.

Quote :
When you said you had a few extra pounds in the middle, I was not thinking you would be obese. You do know you're obese right? At least 30 pounds is my best guess.

Why do you do this to yourself? In my case, had you shared accurate/recent pictures of your body or told me you're obese, yes I would have passed on meeting you as I'm not attracted to obese people. Plus, as you know, I have lot of physical interests that I want to enjoy with partner. No offense, but there's no way you could keep up. But instead of getting a polite "no thank you" email you put us both through that awkward meeting which will now be followed by a flat out rejection should you follow up again. You are a nice person, so hopeful and so eager to please which makes it even harder to reject you because I'm also a nice person.

So why do obese people put themselves through this??? Is it denial? Do you not see you're carrying far more than a few extra pounds?

Is a date with a person who is going to reject you at the end of it better than no date? I really don't get it.

It might very well have something to do with how they see/want to see themselves.

I've seen plenty obese people who are under the impression they're only a little overweight. Whether they believe that or just make themselves think so, I shan't speculate on.

Sounds like some kind of deception tho when the person referenced a foto. I know there are ppl who will lie about obvious truths when you actually see them. IDK what that is about either.

Maybe I could go on a site and say "45-year-old man, six-pack abs, muscular physique, thick, curly brown hair." Oh, first get a friend with foto shop to make a pic of "ME."

That would work, until I actually met an interested person. Why don't ppl think these things thru?

I think if you're going to lie, cool, but then you shouldn't be prepared to meet the person you're lying to. It doesn't make sense.

Exactly. It makes no sense to me either. Once in person, it would be so embarrassing for the lie to be discovered.

I once chatted with this guy who described himself as being basically gorgeous and he sent me a pic that I was impressed with. Met him . . . and no The pic he showed me online was him like 10 yrs & 50 lbs ago. I think people lie about their looks just for the sake of being able to talk to people at that moment.
