Why in the world would I want my son to look like a little girl. If he wants to grow his hair long when he is 18 then that is his business by then he will have facial hair, be more manly in statue and won't be mistaken for a girl.

In the '50s when I was a young boy, we just went to the barber and got 'normal' haircuts.
This is me and my cousins, 1951 (I'm the neglected child who did not get his ears pinned back)
Later it became flat-top and no male had long hair. I remember when the Beatles caused a stir because their hair just covered their ears. OUTRAGEOUS!
It is confusing to determine the gender of prepubescent boys and girls with long hair. Some say that is not an issue. If I had a young boy, I seriously would put the question on him and let him keep his hair long if he wanted. He's the one who has to live with it - and the many ppl who refer to him as a cute girl.

No I'd rather a little boy keep his hair cut short until he's at least 13 or 14 years old. After that, he can decide how he wants his hair to look.

No and I don't understand why parents of 5 and 6 year old boys do that. It looks silly IMO. All little boys 10 and under should be getting regular haircuts. No long hair....no pony tails....no braids....no dread locks. Just a clean haircut. After that if he wants to grow his hair out, then he can.

Not a fan of little boys with long hair. I remember seeing a picture of Celine Dion with her son when he was about 6 or 7. I spent about a minute staring in confusion at the magazine, trying to figure out what had happened to her son and why she had a daughter, when I'd been sure she had a son. It was only when I got close enough to pick up the magazine that I realized I WAS seeing her son on the cover.

I guess when the parents get tired of correcting people when they say, "Oh, what a lovely daughter you have!", they'll take the kid to a barber.

From what I've seen, when a little boy has long hair it's usually the mother's doing. Wanting that little girl she didn't get.
