Do you think parents of children who are born Hermaphrodite should have them undergo corrective surgery to align them with one gender, and then be reared in that direction? Or should they allow them to be what they are, and have the surgery as adults, if that's what they'd prefer to do?

Tough call. I definitely don't like parents making permanent decisions when it isn't a genuine life threatening situation, which is why I'm anti-circ. I also understand that it has to be incredibly difficult for a child to have to go all the way to adulthood. No easy answer.

That's a birth defect and needs to be corrected. I wouldn't let my child go through life not being a clearly defined gender.

You gotta correct a birth defect like that. IMO, it's more abusive to just leave the defect there than to correct it.

The trouble is, which gender do you assign?
In the past there have been some grievous mistakes made and the person went thru life not being the correct physical gender. Yes, we are not male or female just because of our external anatomy. Now testing is better and they say to wait until it is confirmed which gender to assign.

heard that it has caused serious serious probs both ways! would try to correct at birth and look for signs of change later
