He reminds me of a Degrassi character. Not a specific one mind you, I'm being facetious. His voice and inflection is rather "showy" and cheesy.

But thank God the "official" musical was cancelled.

I'm already tired of Darren and Destiny playing the "conscience" of everyone they encounter. His chat with Nate over the found money along with Destiny's righteous sermon to Matthew over the hooker had me FF.
