Anyone ever see this remake of the Blob? I thought it was pretty good.

I LOVED that movie, I loved Kevin Dillon in it, I thought he was great as Brian Flagg. The effects were definitely a lot gorier and this was one time where that actually worked in being scarier because you could see what fate awaited the blob's victims.

Bleh. I didn't care for it.

This is one of my favorite movies. I love this version along with 1958, Steve McQueen version.

I never saw it, but I might check it out. I think I know what I can watch it online.

I STILL love this movie, but Lord WHY do I watch this in the middle of the night when it's dark and I'm the only one up? Suddenly I'm 8 years old again and I'm jumping at every sound, especially when the pipes are doing that glug-glug stuff like the sink did. Now one thing I don't get, why does the blob's color keep changing, from gray, to blue, to pink, to I think red when it completely covers that kid in the car, and WHY is it sprouting tentacles? Very creepy stuff though, major props to the special effects people on this one.

This re-do was great. I think the different colors reflect the time of day/night and the lighting. I guess back in 58 they didn't know how to make tentacles on the Blob like they did in 88.

I just remember it being much more graphic than the original.

Totally, now even when it premiered on Sci Fi back in '98 it had to be cut to not be SO gory, but it was STILL gory, and watching it again I was just thankful that they DIDN'T show the full thing when we saw it as kids, because I'm pretty sure if I'd seen that at 8 I never would've blinked again,

The gore is what made it fun to watch

It definitely leaves you wondering more HOW did they do that? Like the guy in the projection booth, I always said he looked like a fish or something from the black lagoon when he was being dissolved by the Blob, and I always wondered HOW they did that?

More than likely some kind of computer image.

You'd hope so, especially since, I read, it took 4 hours to do the makeup for the reverend when he was burnt, and 7 hours to make him all scarred up. Interestingly I also heard that Del Close who played the reverend, used to be a human torch so he actually did his own scene when he was set on fire.
