Hugh Hefner: 'I'm Sorry' About The Playboy Club Cancellation
Posted: 10/5/11 10:41 AM ET
On Tuesday (Oct. 5), NBC announced the first cancellation of the new fall TV season -- the 1960s period piece drama, 'The Playboy Club.' -- after the new series drew only 3.5 million viewers for its third episode.
The series not only had a lackluster viewership, but it also drew criticism from former Playboy Bunnies, who found that the NBC show demoralized the Bunny lifestyle.
But the show did have one fan -- Hugh Hefner.
"I'm sorry NBC's The Playboy Club didn't find its audience," Hef tweeted. "It should have been on cable, aimed at a more adult audience."
Since the show's cancellation, Hefner has been tweeting up a storm, retweeting other 'Playboy Club' fans' pleas to NBC to bring back the show.
But it's not all bad news for Hefner.
"There is renewed studio interest in a major motion picture on my life & the start of the Sexual Revolution," he tweeted Tuesday.
Meanwhile, "Playboy" will be replaced with Brian Williams' new show, "Rock Center with Brian Williams." "Rock Center" will premiere on NBC Monday, October 31 at 10 PM.
