    Red's thread about her not being invited to the wedding of a couple whose marriage turned out to be short lived prompted me to ask this:

    Have you ever been conspicuously left off of the guest list to an event being hosted by someone you thought you were close (enough) to? If so, how did you react?

    If I was not invited to something I either didn't know about it or didn't care. Sometimes I am invited and wish I weren't - like to weddings or other formal occasions.

    Now I gotta get something to wear to my grandson's impending wedding in March.

    I hear ya! I really don't like attending weddings, and particularly baby showers. Oh, and birthday parties for kids. When I gave birthday parties for my daughter I invited KIDS ONLY and chose not to put adults through that.

    Not that I'm aware of. I agree that it's usually more a case of wishing I hadn't been and trying to come up a reasonable sounding excuse for not RSVPing.

    I think I was, but I can't confirm.

    A few years ago I became close with two of my coworkers, one who got fired but we all still keep in touch. About a year ago I started realizing I wasn't in the loop; my coworker would mention all three of us hanging out, then weeks later start telling me a story about the two of them hanging out. I noticed she was hanging with us separately but I didn't pry. Recently she opened her own business and my coworker mentioned numerous times about her and I going to the grand opening--then all of a sudden, the date changed and eventually the month passed. Just today I called my coworker and she said they were about to go out...no invitation extended to me....

    Ah well. Don't know what I did to her and don't think I'll inquire, that's her loss. I'm pretty fucking cool if I say so myself. Blue Cool
