    Pen Pals Empty Pen Pals

Did you ever have a pen pal when you were a kid? I don't mean an e-mail pal I mean the type you wrote letters to every week and looked forward to their letters back to you?
If you did where were they from and what happened to them?

Yes, many of them. Although they were mostly good friends. Would have liked to pen-pal a stranger from another part of the world but never did. I loved it. Still do, although letter-writing has become about extinct as triceratops, and it's rare that I get the opportunity to snail-mail a hand-written letter.

When I was a kid, about 20 in the Air Force and stationed in Turkey, we got pen pals (girls) in England to write to us. Addresses were exchanged on Radio Luxembourg (English). I had a couple; we exchanged fotos and wrote about shallow stuff. That's how it was done before the Interned & e-mail.

I actually signed up for a letter writing exchange through some book club (they were the ones who were going to match you with a pen pal) when I was a teenager, but nothing ever became of it.

I had a couple pen pals. The greatest was Linda. She was someone that was the eldest daughter to one of my parent's friends. She was old enough to be my mother and sadly, succumbed to cancer during our writing to each other.

Other than her, I only wrote to people from camp and that always fizzled out.

I did, but can't say it was something I looked forward to. I have no clue where she is now, maybe I can facebook her...that would be awkward lol.
