Most likely not. Considerably less actually.

Re: Holiday spending
Each year I try to make it less and less as far as money spent. I don't have tons of people to buy for, anyway, but I do like to get the supervisors at work and the people on the off shifts something small. I go for the $1.00 calendars for the supervisors, and this year, everyone else is getting homemade Christmas decorations; we have a lot of pine trees lining the main road of the hospital where I work, so I took a walk one day, picked up a bagload of pinecones, spray-painted them with glitter and holiday colors, then hot-glued a ribbon loop on them to act as a hanger to hang them on Christmas trees. Total cost for that project was about $5.00 after coupons for the spray paint and ribbon. Pinecones were free, and I already had a stash of hot-glue sticks.

Re: Holiday spending
I buy a couple of things here and there each month so the price doesn't pile up all at once, but I think I'm spending more this year.

I always try to aim for less spending but usually spend the same amount or more.

Do you have a Michael's Craft store near you? If so, they have a knock-off version of the American Girl dolls and clothes called "The Springfield Collecion":
http://www.michaels.com/on/demandware.store/Sites-Michaels-Site/default/Search-AdvancedSearch?cgid=entire&q=springfield+collection
They're much cheaper, but you can always check on Ebay, too, for a deal on the true American Girl stuff!

AND that will pretty much be all she's getting from me. I'm only obliging her because my mother said she's doing better in school and acting up less and she's going to make the honor roll this semester.

I don't think so and I will definitely be checking around. They have an American Girls store here and I want to check that place out on my next day off. I loved American Girls growing up and I'm glad she's into them. I'm going to get her a set of the books too.

Amazon has some stuff, too--some of the prices don't seem too bad: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss/177-8521620-3838601?url=search-alias%3Dtoys-and-games&field-keywords=american+girl
Another route is to find someone who sews and can make a few outfits for the dolls--I was able to do that for my daughter, to save on that cost, so I just had to buy the dolls!

Re: Holiday spending
Nope. I've been tucking a few dollars into a fund for shopping but it won't amount to that much. And I'm okay with a more modest Christmas this year.

Re: Holiday spending
I plan to spend significantly less. My son had a case of being a male diva the last TWO Christmas mornings, so after last Christmas, I told him, "Never again." He got nothing for his birthday and I am not sure if I will cave for Christmas or not...But even if I "cave" it will be understated. I will be spending money on my step-daughter and my dad only.

Probably about the same. I won't be set back that much because I don't have that many people to buy for.
