In Canada, there is no FCC, and so their CBC network allows nudity and harsh language from time to time. Do you think that US broadcast television networks (ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, CW) should follow suit?

Would you have a problem with broadcast television showing nudity?

As crappy as most TV is these days I really don't think it'll make much difference.

I have no problem with it. F/X channel has been showing nudity since the Nip/Tuck days.

No way! The airwaves are perverted enough as is. While there may be some rare exceptions, for the most part, we need LESS exposure on TV, not more.

You all know I have no prob with that. PBS has been showing National Geo shows with nudity for years, what's the difference between a black naked bod and a white one?
(OK, color but the parts are the same)

It's just the human body. It's not like they're showing porn. And no shows like True Blood & SoA are not porn. People crack me up with that one. It's not a big deal.

No, but not because I see anything wrong with nudity on TV or want to embrace "censorship", but because most Americans are prudes and would go into conniption fits and epileptic sezures if nudity in any form, for any reason were "legalized". Kind of like when Janet Jackson flashes a boob on TV for 3.5 seconds and America shits a brick! Could you imagine the ramifications should the bass ackwards citizens of this "whiskey tango", God fearing nation catch a stray wiener on the boob tube? After all, violence doesn't kill people, nudity and sex kills people goddammit! No, America needs to stay hypocritical for a while longer. The nation is too divided and polarized for "radical" changes like this to happen overnight. Only when the majority of Americans grow up and reach the age of reason should censorship actually be up to PARENTS and not the FCC. Until then, we need "big brother" aka Uncle Sam to make sure that we don't hurt ourselves by accidentally seeing something that we think is dangerous (even when it's harmless). Grown-ups can meanwhile live in Canada during the summer months and tolorate a few months of nonsense during the winter season. That seems much more reasonable to me.Chris wrote:In Canada, there is no FCC, and so their CBC network allows nudity and harsh language from time to time. NYPD Blue showed bare ass and had the characters say "shit" a few times. It was sporadic, but it happened. I think in the future all the current restrictions will eventually be done away with. In the 50s and 60s, they couldn't say or do 1/2 of what happens on TV now...in another 20 or 30 years, I imagine casual nudity will be the norm.
