Buying online
Have you ever bought anything online (what sorts of things do you buy? Music, clothes, movies? etc) and is it something you regularly do (buying things online?)

Re: Buying online
I buy online occasionally. Movies, books, music, sometimes shoes. I used to like Ebay, but I hate it now because I always get some fucker who outbids me at the last minute.

Re: Buying online
Getting outbidded on eBay is enough to make you want to punch your screen. I once tried to buy a movie on eBay; an obscure movie in VHS form, as a matter of fact, and still got outbidded. Ever since then I have had no desire to haggle with that whole process.
I have an Amazon account all set up, and a wish list that amasses over $100, which probably plays into why I have yet to finalize the order.

Re: Buying online
Amazon's good but I HATE that they charge $4 for EVERY book you buy, no matter what kind it is, and THEN you get the package and the stamp price says it cost $2.35 to ship. Even if it's a little paperback, you still have to pay a dollar more than for a VHS tape in a large bulky clamshell. From that point of view, it sucks, but sometimes it's the only way to get a certain book.

Re: Buying online
What's hilarious is is that people will go out of their way just to outbid you. It's like a high for them. And they're so fucking stupid about it, they wind up paying more, if not the same amount, for an item (most likely used) that they could've gotten in the store (brand new). And if it is brand new, you get shit of a warranty. The whole point of eBay is to get a good deal. I remember when I was going to buy a new t.v. from eBay, this asshole outbid me while there was a minute left on the auction. It was a 46" LCD and he wound up paying $1200 for it. I saw the same t.v. at Best Buy for $989. I mostly shop at Amazon too and I get free shipping most of the time. My wish list has like 5k worth of items on it. I'll get it when I win the lottery.

Re: Buying online
I've ordered DVDs and accessories from amazon.com and buy.com. The sometimes delayed shipping can be annoying though. Never bothered with eBay. The whole "bidding" thing is way too convoluted, people outbid each other sometimes just for the sake of being vindictive. Rather than having people fight over it, just name your price and serve whoever comes first.

I try to buy from Sellers rather than Amazon itself. The shipping on books is usually about 3 bucks.

Re: Buying online
Yes I do much shopping online, music, movies, blank media, household items, I have bought just about everything online. Best to get stuff from out of state so they don't charge tax. You have to be careful with the shipping and handling prices though but if you shop around online you will find someplace that has what you are looking for without the high shipping and handling.

Re: Buying online
I think it's better to order from the store's website than it is to bother with Amazon/eBay/overstock, etc. Cheaper prices.

I buy online from time to time but I prefer to have it in front of me. Online is just good for hard-to-find stuff, or deals.

Re: Buying online
I have purchased from Amazon (some of their prices are high, but it's easier to deal with them if you have a bunch of miscellaneous things you want to order all at once) and also store websites. Never from eBay, overstock.com, or buy.com though.

I shop a lot online. There is a site called Mypoints, and they give you points for certain online purchases, and so I get rewards back for shopping.

Re: Buying online
At this point I pretty much only buy music and DVDs online. Most of the local record/movie retailers have shut down, so if you want a movie or CD then you have to go to Target or Walmart and try to rummage through their little condensed media departments. That's not appealing to me at all, so I just order what I want.

Re: Buying online
I'm big on pre-ordering stuff so online is where its at for that. For a long time I thought Amazon was ONLY for music and movies and books then I saw furniture and apparel.

Amazon has literally everything you can think of, its a great place to shop online but you have to be careful of the shipping and tax costs.
