Any store bought one is as tasteless as a mushroom and Hostess ought to be ashamed of themselves for putting their name on those bouncing bricks.

About the only thing the fruitcake log is good for is using it for a wheel-chuck when I park on a hill. I won't even put one out for the squirrels and birds for fear of them forming a mutiny against me. "What the fuck is this shit, lady???!!!"

I'm not that familiar with it. I can probably count on one hand the number of times I actually had it. Sometimes it doesn't look all that bad.

I like it with the nuts and maraschino cherries only (with a little rum, of course). But I hate those green and yellow citrons that most people add to them.

I read through some recipes and I think I can understand why people hate them so much, all these spices, stuff like orange peel and lemon peel, and soak the fruit in booze overnight which makes it heavier, whereas the recipe I use calls for the fruit to be kept in orange juice, I don't think I add any spices, and I don't put in all the nuts and raisins and peelings and all that.

I haven't met a fruitcake that I ever liked. It seems like "stale" is an ingredient to them!
