Question for the church goers here Empty Question for the church goers here

Picture it: Easter Sunday, you go to church, you're in the front row for the service, and out of nowhere the choir starts singing Jesus Christ Superstar...would you sit through it or get up and leave?

This happened when my mother was in her early 20s and she walked out and others complained that she embarrassed them and she said they should've been embarrassed for staying through it. And one of the women who attended with her said 'Jesus WAS only a man, how do you know He didn't sleep with women?', if that had been me I would've been like 'bitch why the hell are you GOING to church if you believe that?' I think it's a fair question.

Probably. Because I'd be assured that I'm now in the wrong church!

I have never seen JCS, but when i was in catholic school the nuns taught us we would burn in hell for watching it. If they started singing it in my catholic church, I think I would look for thunderbolts of lightening from the sky and run lol

Sounds like a fun church I would stick around to see what else they did.

I think I'd want to have a bit more information before I made a judgement call on that one. For instance, what song(s) from the musical were they singing, and in what context? My guess is that they could've been using just the chorus part of one of the most identifyable songs which goes:

    Jesus Christ
    Jesus Christ
Who are you? What have you sacrificed?
    Jesus Christ
    Jesus Christ
Who are you? What have you sacrificed?
    Jesus Christ
    Superstar
Do you think you're what they say you are?
    Jesus Christ
    Superstar
Do you think you're what they say you are

The tune is identifyable to many, and perhaps they were only going with that thought, and weren't actually trying to take the focus off God and make it look like Jesus wasn't who He said He was. IDK--need more info to make that call!
