Joan Crawford, Mia Farrow, Angelina Jolie, Madonna. A long list of celebrities have chosen to adopt children from abroad. Do you think it's them trying to better the life of a child from a 3rd world or a fad?

Quicker than trying to find newborn babies here.

There are older children in the US available for adoption but they are the forgotten ones.

There are a lot of kids right here in the US who could benefit from celebrity money but I'm happy to see any child in need of a home find one. It can come across as a little pretentious & attention seeking when it appears they're collecting one from each country. Like stamps. But as long as the kids have a happy & stable environment I guess it's a good thing.

When someone decides to adopt a child, it's good that they keep their options open. And I can't hate on adopting a child from an underdeveloped nation, because they have a greater chance of having a more difficult plight in life. However, I do think that what Bluesmama said is also true. It's quicker and easier to take home orphaned children from third world countries than it is to go through the red tape of adopting an American child.

If I had the money to support them and hire some help in taking care of them, I would love to have a rainbow family of kids from around the world.
