I learned on an Electronic Typewriter. Teacher had black masking tape covering all the keys.

I learned on an old manual typewriter, it was funny, we had this junky one in the house that nobody knew how to use, apparently nobody else at that time knew HOW to use a typewriter, I was 3 and started pounding on the keys and surprised everybody because I actually knew how to use it.

I learned typing in high school and I think they were all electric. But I had a manual one at home that somebody gave me.

I learned on an Electric Typewriter with blank keys. I type with both hands and fast and sometimes don't see the mistakes I make. I have an old manual typewriter that belonged to one of my sisters and I used to use that all the time before getting my computer.

I tell kids I learned to type on a wireless machine and they believe that technology was around in '62.

Learned to 'touch type' in high school and the manual typewriters did not have letters on the keys. There was a big poster on the wall in front of us with the keyboard with letters. (Just realized 'keyboard' was not a word then)

I was still using a manual for a few years after writing magazine articles and sending them in to editors, double spaced and all. So, finally got a computer to e-mail that stuff around. Love technology.

Those were my choices and my mom was quite upset that I took typing for a practical art (used up all my fine arts creds) instead of shop or mechanical drawing. Most of the girls in my class were either going to be nurses or secretaries - the standard female jobs of the early sixties and I was a minority of guys in typing class.

When I joined the Air Force typing probably added to my being put in office work instead of some AFSC in Nam. (Titless WAF was the smartass job title we had)
