Do you like parades? If so, what kind(s) of parades, and what is your favorite part of the parade?

Parades are kind of an ancient amusement and I don't go out of my way to see them.

But if I am at an event and a parade goes by I will watch and fotograf.

I like parades a lot. My favorite parts are the bands and the floats. When I watch the Macy's Day Parade on TV I get very tired of the lipsyncing performances and would prefer to watch more floats and balloons.

The Mummer's Day Parade looks like one I'd like to see. Too bad it wasn't aired on TV this year.

    But someday . . . someday . . . I will be at Mardi Gras!

I'm not big on parades, I've been with my nieces/nephews a few times during Christmas parades, but that's it.

They only have one here every year for the fall festival...best part undoubtedly the marching bands.

West Indian Day is best one I've been to and my favorite part about it is the music. The Caribbana in Toronto is dope too. Again, the music is the best part.

They can be fun when it's an event with food and other assortments. Also the weathers gotta be right though.

I moved to New Orleans in '67 and my first Mardi Gras was quite an experience. I lived one block off St. Charles, where most of the parades took place so I could just walk over and watch as they passed. "Tro me somethin' mister" trying to catch beads & doubloons. It was an interactive event.

But after that it was the usual chaos trying to get around in a city that care forgot. Had to plan alt routes to drive to work, had to park my car perpendicular to the curb to prevent it being blocked by double parking cars. Parades are a hassle to working stiffs.

Hate to rain on your parade, but I'm afraid I saw the last of the true Mardi Gras (Yeah, it is a religious holiday - not a tourist event).

Back in the '60s the parades were a social event (the Crewe balls were the real focus). Zulu was still throwing painted coconuts to the crowds, flambeau's carried real flames like they had in the 18th Century. IDK what the parades are like today, but I suspect they have lost a lot of that local, traditional New Orleans flavor that the simpler times allowed.
