Growing flowers Empty
PostSubject: Growing flowers   Growing flowers EmptyTue Jan 10, 2012 1:07 pm

Do you plant any when spring rolls around? We like them but the problem is finding something that won't take over the whole yard. Unknowingly we planted 3 packets of morning glory seeds a couple of years back, and we're still paying for that, every time we see the plants rear their ugly heads, got to pull them all out or we won't have a back yard this year. I had thought about planting some poppies but apparently they like to do the same thing, and so do columbines. I got my mother a dianthus plant a couple years back, supposed to attract butterflies and hummingbirds, but we ain't seen much of them since, only a similar plant...but I found some dianthus seeds but don't know if these grow wall to wall either. Anybody got any ideas about it all?

Sometimes I do but it's not a serious hobby or anything I scramble to keep up with. I'll go to the garden supply store and pick up a few plants that have already sprouted and let replant them. That's it.

I'm not good with plant material--I could even kill silk flowers.

When we were living in michigan, we typically started to plant indoors around the 2nd week of March. We had 200-300 pods we started with various veggies and seed flowers like purple cone flowers. Even a few trees like the Eastern Redbud..
