What's the most inconsiderate thing a friend ever did to you?

Ten years ago a friend invited me to this park to hang out with him, his brother and the rest of their people. Quite a ways outside the city, I wasn't familiar with the area that this park was in. I wanted to ride with him....but my boy (who had a truck) decided to bring his dogs and for whatever reason they couldn't ride in the back of it, so that meant that instead I had to follow behind him (on an expressway that I hardly knew) as I drove myself. When we got there, my friend said that he forgot something at home and that he'd be right back. Hours passed and he never showed back up. I'm sitting at this unfamiliar park, in this unfamiliar area....not knowing anybody there. Worse of all, I didn't know how to get back home. I was steamed. Finally I saw some black people leaving the park....assumed that they were probably headed back to Detroit too, and just followed behind them. Luckily for me I was right.

When I got home, I called this clown and ranted like Hulk Hogan. His excuse was that when he got back home he felt tired and decided to not go back (this was the days before I had a cell phone) and just assumed that I would catch up with his brother and chill with them. I like, "you nigga, you....I barely know your brother, he's not my friend. I wasn't going there to hang out with him and his people. What the fuck?!" He thought I was overreacting, but it took me a long time to get over that inconsiderate stunt.

I guess it depends on what we call a friend. Usually friends just keep me waiting too long, but "so-called" friends of my parents have done inconsiderate things to them, and somebody I thought was a friend back in first-grade cut my finger open. But then again, so-called friends. True friends usually aren't any more inconsiderate than wasting a bit of time.

Once my friend asked to borrow my car and I told her that I didn't have much gas. She said she'd put some in it. She returned with even less gas in it that was there before. It was practically on E. I was broke that day and had to drive to work (which was way across town) that afternoon.

My friend's husband is socially inept and it is odd because he says things just to hurt people, but in a passive manner. One night, he and I were having the conversation about why me and my guy have chosen not to get married. At one point I said, "I think that my mom would have been the only one who would have made me chose otherwise at some point, but now that she is gone, I don't see us getting married." He said, "Where did she go? Retire down South?" He absolutely knew my mom was deceased (it was only a few months prior to us having this convesation) and that is just the way he is.

That would have been enough for me to stand up and calmly escort him to the door.

Chris, I would have, but we were at a public campfire. At my home, I get crawly when he is here. He has no limits. He will read our things on our peg board, (he literally flips the YMCA calendar to see what is below it) and I caught on to that years ago, so one time I wrote a post it that said "Pat H is an ass hat". He laughed it off, but it was the last time he flipped through our stuff on the peg board.

I don't have too many horror stories, but this one time a friend and I took two mutual friends out to dinner for their birthday. We agreed beforehand that we'd split the bill by half. Well, when the bill came, suddenly he didn't remember that agreement and claimed to be short. In the end, I wound paying about 80% of it (which of course included what he ate.)

That pissed me off.
