Re: What inspired your middle name?
There's no semblance behind it to my knowledge. I think my folks just randomly selected something that they thought would sound good next to my first name.

Update:
I'm talking my mom on the phone now and she said it was inspired by her dads middle name. Go figure!

Re: What inspired your middle name?
It was my grandmother's name. And I surprised myself by passing the same middle name to my daughter. Not necessarily because of the lineage but because I liked how it sounded with her first name.

Re: What inspired your middle name?
The plan was matching initials - BAB.
My mom's name was Betty Ann so my name was Bobby Alan to have the same initials and my sister's name was Bonny Ann.

Re: What inspired your middle name?
my mom wanted to call me K.C. so after seeing Kirsten in a baby book, she chose that as my first name. She should have read the translation which is norwegian for Christina... my middle name. So in theory, my name is either Kirsten Christina, Kirsten Kirsten, or Christina Christina LOL

Re: What inspired your middle name?
That rather reminds me that starting with my grandparents all their children had a middle name or initial starting with C, my oldest uncle and my father only had the initial. All my aunts and uncles gave their children middle names Starting with C. And several of my cousins too gave their kids middle names starting with C. I chose not to, I don't know why except I couldn't find middle names starting with C that went with their first names.Shale wrote:The plan was matching initials - BAB.

Re: What inspired your middle name?
My sister Bonny continued the tradition of first names starting with B.
She married a guy named Bill and her kids were named Brenda, Betsy, Billy, Beverly. Their dog was named Babe.
Does OCD run in families?

"Kirsten" is my middle name! (First name is "Lisa") My Mom chose it only because of the Scandinavian origin of it--we're a mostly Finnish family, but with a few Swedes here and there.

NEAT!
Although it is becoming more popular now, it was really obscure and i had a tough time cause NO ONE ever got it right.
When naming my brother, my parents meshed my grandfather's name, Alois with my great grandfather's name Frederick..... my dad wanted to name my brother Aland Frederick--- so it sounded like Al and Frederick---he actually wanted to use both names like one word! LOL My mom compromised and named him Alan Frederick.... but we only use his first name lol

I hear you on that--no one ever does get it right, because people don't really listen, and they always say "Oh, 'Kristen'?" No, it's K--I--R, not K, R, I. Just as my daughter's name is Livia, and people always slap an "O" on it to make it Olivia, so we constantly say "NO 'O'"!
At least as far as middle names go, I'm glad my Grandmother stopped the family tradition of naming the daughters with the same middle name, passed down: Gram is Edith Ingeborg and her mother was Sylvia Ingeborg--ugh on that middle name!

LOL--We just have all the old, Finn names like Hilma, Hilda, Paavo, Tauno, Elvi, etc. And then there's the last names, like Maki, Syrjanen, Leikkanen, Tamminen, Fors, Aho--the last names run more rampant than the first names in my family.
I always joke that you can turn any word or name into a Finnish name if you just go through and double all the vowels and a couple of consanants, and put the accent on the first syllable!
