I've already signed on to a couple of petitions to scrap this mess and written to my reprehensibles in Washington.

I think Obama is committed to vetoing it.

Here is my addition to the standard communique of the ACLU:

I am a writer, with copyrighted material out on the Web. I also think this legislation is ill-prepared to deal with cyberspace. In print it is easy to "fair use" someone's words as long as there is attribution. What bot can determine that this fair use was implemented when it detects the quoted passage?

I think this legislation is unnecessary and what is necessary is getting the economy back on track so that writers, teachers, mechanics and all sorts of real workers can start making a living again.
