Everybody always debates on are professional sports rigged and the Superbowl is no exception. Well my mother said she wants to see The Voice when it comes on this Sunday right after the Superbowl, time 9 P.M. It seems to me the only way they can guarantee they can show The Voice at 9 is that they KNOW that the Superbowl will be over by then and that there's no chance it will go into overtime. And since sports are supposed to be soooooo unpredictable, how could the network even hope to make a guess like that and have the air time for the premiere episode of a new season riding on that?

The start time of any show scheduled after a sport broadcast is nothing more than an estimate. Please post a link where the network has GUARANTEED that your mom's show will begin at 9:00PM. Is that CST? There is a very good chance The Voice will not air at it's scheduled time. I'm pretty sure American Idol didn't start at it's scheduled time last Sunday.

It's just an estimated time Supernova. It's not unusual for the show scheduled after a live telecast to run late & odds are it probably will run at least a few minutes late.

It's very unusual though because those talent reality shows never show on Sunday nights, always Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, they never show on the weekend and they never premiere then either.

They want HUGE ratings, A LOT of people will stay tuned after superbowl is over.

Like others have said, they advertise it as "after the Superbowl" but have to attach a time frame for it due to program guides.
My guess is they started to air things after the game because that keeps the advertising cost consistent for all four quarters. While some will turn a boring Bowl game off during the fourth quarter or switch it off to get to bed, others are tuning in to catch the show.
I think it sucks because they don't have a proper amount of post-game coverage.
