They are laying David's brown-nosing infatuation with Bo on a bit thick, don't you think? "Pa"? At first I thought David was just mocking the way the Clint and Bo referred to Asa, but more and more he's looking very desperate for Bo to teach him how to ride without the training wheels.

Re: "Pa"
David reminds me very much of a child in many ways - like his age was stopped at 7 or 8 at times. Sure he can be quite the lady's man, but in other ways, he's very child like and desperate for "pa's" affection. I think he wants Bo to be his Dad, but has no idea of normal parent/child relations and how to go about making that happen. He's glib and smug because it's all he's been taught. He wants Bo to be his Dad, but has no idea what a father/son relationship is supposed to be like, so he acts out in childish and immature ways. TPTB really are laying it on thick!

Re: "Pa"
I wish he would stop saying Pa. I want him to call him Bo the way he used to. He is a bit old to call him that now considering he didn't know him all his life.

Re: "Pa"
David's odd longing for Bo to take him to a ball game, and calling him "pa" every six seconds, despite his previously having had any affection, or much respect for, him is jarring and a bit irksome. I am remembering back in the day when Cord and Megan were revealed to be Clint's son and Viki's daughter. Casually, they bonded with their newfound families, but retained their own previously established identity. They did not all of the sudden start calling them "ma" and "pa," nor did they adopt/sponge on their famous last names. Per the revelation that he was Bo's son, I assumed that he would manipulate his newfound heir for gluttonous purposes and vindictively crash family gatherings and board meetings—while not having that much affection for the Bukes. The writers are handling this all wrong, and it is for all intents and purposes destroying the David character.
