A Texas man was arrested yesterday for beating his 6-year-old son for eight hours straight because the child would not fall asleep. The child died.

According to police reports, the child's father, Alex McGowen Duncan, 34, beat his son, Tekerrious Jackson, aka T.K., for two weeks after the boy came to stay with him for the summer. He had been only recently reunited with this son.

Last Saturday evening, McGowen reportedly saw the child's eyes flutter at around 7 p.m., shortly after putting him to bed. The victim's dad, who is also known as Boomer, was so uncontrollably enraged that T.K. was still awake that he made the boy get out of bed. Reportedly, for the next eight hours, he made T.K. kneel down, then extend his arms in front of him. If the boy lowered his arms, McGowen would then proceed to pummel his son's chest and other parts of his body commando-style.

McGowen's girlfriend, Tammyra Lanette Sampson, who admitted to police that she had witnessed countless beatings inflicted by McGowen on his young son, stated that she once intervened on the boy's behalf. The 30-year-old woman who has an 11-year-old daughter who was also present in the apartment, said that she tried to teach McGowen how to properly discipline T.K. with a belt instead.

The 11-year-old girl also told police that she was forced to watch the brutal beatings that were given to T.K. over the course of several days.

T.K. suffered severe trauma to his body and was taken to Texas Children's Hospital in Houston, where he was pronounced dead. McGowen is charged with murder. Sampson faces charges of injury to a child by omission.

Can I throw the switch? Hope they charge the girlfriend as an accessory, since she opted to spectate rather than call the police while the boy was being savagely beaten.

Fry his ass and the mother too. She wanted to teach him how to beat the child with a belt? He should be put to death and she should have her other child taken away and have her ovaries ripped out of her body.

When will people learn that kids will eventually go to sleep? If the boy was in his bed, why take him out of bed just to punish him because he wasn't sleep. The girlfriend needs her ass kicked as well, you watch someone beat a innocent child to death. Hope this retarded motherf#cker gets the death penalty.

Why was he with him anyway, what was the reason for the boy not seeing him in the beginning? I bet he has a history of violence.

That is arguably the most offensive part of this damn story. How can a mother stand by watching a small child be beat to death? Calling herself "intervening" to teach this buffoon how to use a belt instead. Please. At what point did she, I don't know...maybe try and stop the child from being beat at all? Then she has the indecency to allow her own child to witness this horror. Lawd, people are crazy. Yes, please charge this bitch as an accessory. She is culpable in this. In the meantime, when he is sent to prison, I hope this animal gets treated to the same fate he dealt his boy.

This has nothing to do with the kid not falling asleep. Nobody beats a kid that bad more than once without having looked for a reason. I agree with you that the girlfriend needs to suffer a sentence almost as harsh as the father's.

Texas has the death penalty, hope he gets it.

The article says that he had only been recently reunited with his son...why? Why were they estranged to begin with, and whose idea was it to send the child to stay with him? It is sick this this man's girlfriend was there, and instead of doing something to stop the abuse altogether, tried to show this worthless SOB how to discipline with a belt. That, to me, reads like she agreed with the abuse, just not his method.
