What do you think; is politics (particularly from a bias standpoint) being taught in schools as 'overstepping' as teaching religion?

Uh...no. The only "bias" that might come from that would be from the teacher/professor. If he/she is a liberal/conservative....you might pick up on their slant a bit more....but I don't think teaching politics is the same as teaching religion. It's just another discipline.

I see nothing wrong with teaching religion or politics in school.

As long as it does not push ONE religion or political system or party as superior to another and keep the teaching objective on both.

Even in the dark ages when I attended school (No computers, No Internet, No iphones - spell chek was in a book) our social studies class gave us an overview of world religions and we were required to subscribe to U.S. News & World Report for that class.

High school is where young ppl need to be educated about their world, which includes all the fucked up religions and politics. (Hey, I didn't say I would teach it).

On my first day of college-- I was like 28 or so--- a professor passed around voter registrations forms to the students which i thought was great. Then she started going on and on about how the democratic party here controls everything and she was endorsing a rep candidate while she passed out right slanted literature. That is when i got pissed off. i told her that I thought informing the kids is great--- but do it EQUALLY! If she is passing out literature... pass out both candidate's literature! give the kids enough info to make an informed decision---in other words, TEACH! lol
