Right now I would vote for Lassie over the Member of Parliament we have now. I also would prefer Lassie to the Prime Minister we have now.

As for celebrities, most of the celebrities in America are as crazy as the politicians. So most likely, I wouldn't.

What automatically disqualifies someone because they've been in the public eye? I think people hear "celebrity" and they think of Jennifer Aniston, Johnny Depp, Jay-Z, etc. And maybe anyone of them would make valuable public servants.

Not easily. I prefer career politicians over those who turned political after their initial career peaked.

Being a celeb doesn't mean they should be in office just out of "popularity" but doesn't disqualify them either. They're no different than anyone else. Some need to stick to acting or singing (some of them are barely qualified for that as it is) & others are perfect for the job.

There are some who are very politically active and run/bring attention to charities. I would much rather vote for Matthew McConaughy who trekked thru the waters of New Orleans trying to rescue people then a president who took 5 days to visit --- I think many of these politicians are too far removed from normal everyday people. I would greatly respect any celebrity who made it a point to rally for the little guy.
