Did you see the 1953 version of Titanic? I caught the tail end of it earlier, and was slightly impressed. Technically it was well done, for it's time.

Yes I liked it, and I like Thelma Ritter's character in it, who was loosely based on Margaret Brown (The unsinkable Molly Brown). I'd sooner watch it than the 1997 movie.

I liked the effects but like a lot of dramatic films of its day, it was too shlocky and melodramatic with the crew singing a battle hymn as the ship went down.

Supposedly it was the last song played on the Titanic and whether that's true or not is still undetermined.

I notice that Robert Wagner's character was similar to Leonardo DiCaprio's, but I think his survived.
