I have a stick shift so mine is in between the driver seat and passenger seat. | |

Makes damn sure you can't hope from the passenger seat to the driver's, one thing I'm not too fond of in newer cars. | |

| Mine is on the floor. Not sure why it is referred to as "floor" when it is not, but I have always heard the expression "four on the floor."

It doesn't appear to be on the floor now with individual 'bucket' seats and that hump making a little shift lever right at your hand, whether 'stick' or automatic. But old cars & trucks with bench seats had about a yard long stick shift that actually went down to the floor. Even those that had 3 on the floor. | |

| Floor. For years I drove manual transmissions and then I got a truck with the shift on the steering column. For weeks after I first got it I caught myself reaching down for the shift. | |
