| I would try to figure out the reason and get them help....but having them institutionalized would be my last resort. | |

| If that person is a danger to others, or himself, and he/she does not cooperate with what they need to take care of themselves, then YES!
I have a nephew who's been living in some type of "half-way house" (schizophrenia) for several years, and he was recently released into his sister's guardianship. So far so good but he's been known to disappear. And if he falls off his regime then everyone else around him suffers (imagine Ozzy Osbourne babbling at his worst about 10 years ago). Hopefully he will remain responsible, as she is the only family member willing to take him in. | |
