    LOS ANGELES — Condoms are now required on Los Angeles porn sets.

    Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa signed an ordinance in January requiring that actors in adult movies in the city must use condoms in order for producers to get a filming permit, and the rule took effect Monday.

    The AIDS Healthcare Foundation lobbied for the regulation for years and says it's essential to protect adult film actors from HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases. The group is collecting signatures for a November ballot measure that would require condoms on sets countywide.

    But industry leaders say the new regulation might drive them from the nation's porn capital. They estimate that as many as 90 percent of U.S. porn films are made in Los Angeles, most of them in the suburban San Fernando Valley.

    It's about time and the industry should go ahead and show some responsibility by using condoms in all their porn instead of waiting for the lame politicians to finally regulate it.

    co-signs Some have been doing that for a while & there's no doubt a few might pack up operations & move elsewhere. But hopefully it will expand everywhere & resistant studios will finally do what is right.

    But the porn studios aren't in existence for that. They are constantly producing new videos. The ones that are already using condoms will usually have a "pre-condom" category but the market is in the new videos. And there will always be that demographic who wants the bareback & they're well aware of that. There's no doubt some of them will just pull up their tents & pitch them somewhere else without the regulations. And this is why the regulations are needed. These people are entitled to a safe work environment. Making it the law is probably the only way that's ever going to happen.

    Watching guys put on condoms does not take anything away for me. IDK why it would be so important to watch bareback when that is not what we (who are conscious of the great danger) do.

    Just watched a Sammy Case vid last night where he put a condom on the other guy using his hand and mouth. Kinda sensual in itself.
